With early roots in painting and drawing, Cal Ola naturally was interested in moving images from a young age. This lead to his first short films with friends and freelance work as a videographer.

In 2017, he began working in the lighting department on film and TV productions across Germany. After relocating to the UK in 2020, he gained further hands-on experience as a spark, contributing to a wide range of film, documentary and television projects.

In 2023 he was accepted into the National Film and Television School (NFTS), where he completed a Master’s in Cinematography in 2025. During his time at NFTS, he shot a diverse selection of short films. In the autumn of 2024, Cal has lensed his first feature film. Alongside narrative work, Cal continues to shoot music videos and commercials—combining strong visual intuition with a calm, collaborative approach on set.

Cal is based in London, and works regularly in Berlin and Hamburg. Away from the camera, he enjoys playing badminton and is a keen rock climber.
